Analysis of Grains and Oil Seeds

The analysis of grains and oilseeds plays a major role in ensuring the best quality of food as well as of agricultural products. Near Infrared spectroscopy (FT-NIR) offers solutions for oil producers as well as for breeders.

XRF is a fast, nondestructive technology for heavy metal screening of grains such as arsenic in rice. Bruker’s Elemental Analyzer portfolio includes high-throughput lab-based ED-XRF and WD-XRF, point-and-shoot handheld XRF, micro-XRF, and ultra-trace analysis TXRF spectrometers.

TD-NMR combines rapid, simultaneous analysis of oil and moisture, with easy sample preparation (no grinding) and simple calibration. High accuracy and reproducibility, about 2 to 3-fold better than wet chemistry or competing technologies. Oil and moisture in seeds are analyzed according to international standard methods. No dependency on color, surface, and penetration depth.
